As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Happy had the opportunity to advance to Intermediate Puppy School pending a passing score on her Beginners Puppy School Exam. After a sequence of commands (and a lot of licks and spastic outbursts) Anthony (the puppy school trainer) gave Happy the “go-ahead” to move into the Intermediate classes.

Top of the class!
So for the past two weekends, Happy has been attending classes with a bunch of smartypants pups. These new classes, however, are on Saturdays, and because Anthony let us start early, we still have three beginner school classes remaining on Sundays. Needless to say, we are taking full advantage of the overlap and hitting up these puppy school classes two times a weekend until the beginner classes run out. (Anthony 100% endorses this, btw, and even says we can come to any of his classes during the week as well. Neat, huh?)
During yesterday’s Intermediate class, Happy had her official Beginners School Final Exam… and Anthony unexpectedly chose Happy as the first casualty. This would have been fine and dandy under any other circumstance…but Happy had just spent twenty minutes wrestling and romping around with all of the other puppies before class.

Let’s get ready to rummmmble!!!

Picking on the little one…Baby Cashmere
Needless to say, she was still quite wound up and most definitely not in the mood to obey her humans.

Oh Cashmere, you know I love ya!
The test required Happy to walk on a leash around the store without resisting (yeahhhhh, right) and stopping and sitting on command at various checkpoints (eh, this was hit or miss…).
To test Happy’s aggression, Ryan had to walk by a dog and its owner with Happy by his side, command her to sit and shake hands with the other owner without Happy stirring (success!).
Finally, on the last lap around the store, Happy was required to “sit” on command (again) and “stay” while Ryan walked in front of her, took a step back and called her to “come” (nailed it).
At the end of class after all of the dogs were tested, Anthony announced the passing pups and passed out diplomas to those who advanced. Of course, Happy was one of them!

Our little graduate!
You can’t really tell, but Ryan is holding the graduation cap that fell off of Happy’s head…
And now for the Diploma…
And again!
And yes, we certainly do love our public library (even dropped by there yesterday, in fact!) But y’all already knew that little tidbit about us.
Truth be told, though, Happy did not do as well as she could have. She tends to think her class is a play-period. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, Happy is much more attentive at home.
Have any of your pets graduated from puppy school? Or plain ‘ole flunked out? Do you love your public library as much as we do?

Awww! I love how you put the diploma on the fridge!
Congrats to Happy!
hahaaaa we are quite proud of our little pup! Gotta display her achievement
aw, Congrats Happy!! that’s great, and she is probably very proud to have her diploma on the fridge. as far as the last photo, she was just doing what all graduates do – throwing her cap in the air!
Jason is very good at training Basil, our dachshund, himself… Basil is pretty good
at minding… my dog in college, a samoyed, graduated from basic training and was pretty good… I was able to run on our favorite trail with Sitka off leash.
LOL I love it! You’re so right, she totally *is* throwing her cap up in the air! Psh, what was I thinking….
That’s awesome that Jason is a good dog trainer! Ryan is actually pretty good at training happy, too! He’s got that clicker-training down like magic
And holy wow, you could run with your old pup OFF the leash?! I am super impressed… I don’t think I’d ever be able to trust Happy enough to do that.
Ah, your puppy is so cute!! Congrats to Happy!! I remember when our 2nd dog tried to go to puppy school – she was so crazy, she jumped all over the place, I don’t think she ever completed everything properly. My dad always joked that she “flunked out”
Haaaaa! I can totally relate to this with all of my mom’s dogs… she never had too great of luck with training them!
What an adorable puppy!! Congrats!
Thank you thank you
Now we’re movin’ on up to the intermediate classes!
Aww congrats to Happy!! That’s so awesome! I can’t wait to get a dog one day!
You will loooove having a dog when you get one… they’re SO fun!
I’m SO working on training Chloe. seriously.
I’ve conquered “sit.” aaand that’s it. question… how did you teach her “stay?”
I’m struggling. obv.
Aww! Congrats to Happy!!
Oreo is the same – he is SO obedient at home. But when he’s out and about… it’s a lot more shaky. And if he’s off his leash (like at the dogpark) he doesn’t even remember his name.
Ahhhh that is SO funny… “he doesn’t even remember his name.” Seriously laughing out loud from that. I can totally relate with Happy!
Congratulations to Happy; she is so cute!
Speaking as an LIS student, I’m glad to know you love your library. That’s a great magnet.
Ohhh we seriously LOVE the library! I always have some books checked out… love that you’re in school for it! yyyyyay!
I should utilize my library more! I am going to add that to my list of goals for the month thanks for the idea!
Good for you! You’ll love it, I promise!
